Third Grade had a Dashing Time in Blockly

Mrs. Strong's third grade class worked with our Dash robots in the Blockly App to work on their block coding with the robots.

They taught dash to drive, do a cheer, do a celebration, and tell an interactive knock knock joke.

Batman saves the "at" Family

Kindergarteners vs. Penguin

The Penguin put those "at" family words in in bubbles and we had to hunt them down.
 🐧

When our crime fighting teams found all 8 "at" family words, they designed an invention to help protect the "at" family words from the villians in Gotham City.

Whipped Cream Tsunamis and Graham Cracker Earthquakes

Fifth graders are learning all about tetonic plates!

So we thought a little hands on demonstration
of what happens at different plate boundaries would be helpful.

ENTER Whipped Cream and Graham Crackers.

The whipped cream served as our asthenosphere or magma
and the graham crackers could serve as our lithosphere.

We learned about convergent, divergent, and transformative plate boundaries
and tested out all of these with our materials.

Check out our Mid-Atlantic Ridge
This is a divergent plate boundary.

During these experiments we learned that convergent plate boundaries could cause tsunamis and transformative plate boundaries can cause earth quakes.

DECEMBER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I know where was this blog in December....

Well truth be told we were just too incredibly busy to post.
(we'll add some pics to this post later)

But what were we doing?

Kindergarten was using the vinyl cutter and becoming familiar with our Dash robots.

First Grade was working on 3D design and printing using the program cookie caster and our Dremel.

Second Grade was completing engineering  challenges making bird nests.

Third Grade began working with WeDo Lego Robotics.

Fourth Grade was 3 Doodling with our drawing pens, and using the Dremel to 3D print cookie cutters.

Fifth Grade completed their distance learning units with NASA, Arizona State, and CalTech.

And the whole school competed in our gingerbread house design competition.

Kindergarten Robotic Programming

The kindergarteners are working on programming Dash this week with drag and drop programming in the Wonder Application.  They were very motivated and persevered when it got a little tough too.
Kindergarten never ceases to amaze.
