The Southwestern Elementary School STEAM/Maker lab encourages students to be creative and innovative. We work on design thinking, engineering, electronics, 3D printing, coding, robotics and more in a STE(A)M based environment.

Oompa Loompa Challenge

Mr. Fagerstrom's First grade is reading Charlie and the Chocolate Factory
so today we had an Oompa Loompa Design Challenge

*Using only gumdrops and tooth picks, build the tallest tower in 30 minutes


And the winner was 14 cm tall!!!
We figured out our structures needed support and balance.
